The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children does not receive any government funding to provide its services. It relies solely on the generosity of individual donors, grants from foundations and corporate giving programs, and proceeds raised through BTFC fundraisers which include the J. Smith Lanier & Co. Charity Classic, Flight of the Butterflies, and William’s Walk & Run.
Donations from individuals make up a major portion of gifts received by BTFC. These gifts are extremely important -- they are the life's blood of our work. A donation can be made in memory or in honor of a loved one or friend, in celebration of a birthday, anniversary, marriage, graduation or other special event. Every donation is special to us.
These are a few examples of ways in which your donations help:
- $25 buys a 550-page, "must-have" brain and spinal cord tumor guidebook for a family
- $50 will send five children to a bowling or other fun party to forget about surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and hospital stays
- $120 pays an average utility bill for a family struggling financially while their child is hospitalized
- $250 will provide a special event party for up to 20 children, complete with lunch, craft activity, decorations, treats, and loads of fun and friendship
- $600 will provide a month's rent for a family experiencing income loss as their child undergoes treatment for their life-threatening brain cancer
- $1,000 will provide supplies for children at brain tumor clinic four times per month for one year
- $1,250 provides a weekend caregiver retreat/conference for ten parents to help them manage the on-going demands for their child's illness
- $2,500 will provide one Larry Dean Davis Scholarship award for a brain or spinal cord tumor survivor obtaining advanced education
