This scholarship is awarded in loving memory of Herbert Shaw, Jr., who passed away February 10, 2008, following a brave battle with pediatric brain cancer.  Herbert was a nineteen year old great son, brother, uncle, and a friend to many. In addition to maintaining honor roll as a high school senior,  he was homecoming king, a drum major for world renowned Southwest Dekalb High School Marching Band, saxophonist, percussionist for Abundant Life Church of Lithonia, Georgia, recipient of the Larry Dean Davis Scholarship and a compassionate individual. His dream was to finish college, start his own foundation to benefit brain tumor kids and to give scholarships as he received.
