The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children has partnered with the Stop Childhood Cancer Alliance during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Cancer. It is a battle too many of our young children and teenagers must face every day. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among U.S. children from birth to age 15. Each year, more than 10,000 new cases of childhood cancer are diagnosed—approximately 46 children and adolescents every day.
The Stop Childhood Cancer Alliance wants to see these statistics change. We hope to be the driving force in increasing awareness of childhood cancer and enhancing support for the young people fighting this disease—and the clinicians and researchers who are helping them.
Gov. Nathan Deal signed a proclamation on August 30 at an event just for children battling cancer to declare September Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Throughout the month, get involved by making donations, volunteering or working with individual member organizations of the Stop Childhood Cancer Alliance.
Several of BTFC's talented, creative and dedicated groups of friends have planned some awesome events this year for our families, all taking place during the month of September. BTFC will begin the month with the Cruisin' for the Kids Boat Ride and Parade hosted by the Towne Lake Optimist Club on Lake Allatoona on Saturday, September 10th. The boating fun continues the following Saturday, the 17th, as the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boating Society, the Southeastern Outboarders Association, and Bone Island Grille host the Bone Island Grill Boating Bonanza in Eatonton, GA. The fun continues on the 25th, as the 7th Annual SkaterAid Skate & Music Festival is held in Decatur, GA. Thanks again to these amazing groups of individuals for their continued support of BTFC.
