Tumor Trooper Run/Walk - Rome

Tumor Trooper Run/Walk - Rome, GA
Saturday, July 19, 2014

What a great day! The 2nd Annual Tumor Trooper Run/Walk brought out 350 participants and many spectators to the perfect setting of the Richard Russell Airport. The fun included special touches such as pizza from Fox's Pizza Den, yogurt from Sweet Frog, Chick-fil-A cows, pictures with a military Humvee, rides in an authentic military truck, the awesome Tiger Flight planes and fly-over exhibition, and an awesome Kids Corner complete with games, sand art, face painting and more! To the delight of all, the Rome Fire Department was there with a fire truck and water hose to cool off runners as they ran across the finish line.

Net proceeds of $15,000 will be divided equally to support research efforts and Brain Tumor Foundation for Children programs such as the Butterfly Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance for families when children are on treatment for brain and spinal cord tumors.

We can't thank the people of Rome enough for their support, especially everyone at the Richard Russell Airport for hosting our event.

Special thanks to Rome resident and brain tumor survivor, Charlie Henderson, who inspired this race and, along with family members, worked for months to make it a huge success! You are the best, Charlie!
