Kristin Beaucher gets her Christmas Wish

Kristin Beaucher was just 2 when first diagnosed with a brain tumor. She did very well until her tumor progressed in the summer of 2009. When Kristin told her dad, Chris, that she wanted him to get a tattoo, they visited ABT Tattoo in McDonough, GA , where the owners of the shop, Denise and Todo, fell in love with Kristin. They got in touch with their friend Dawn Vigil of Vigil Ford as well as the band Eleven Standing Still, and before you know it, the band held a concert to raise money to support Kristin's family. This generous group also coordinated a toy drive to collect items for BTFC, because "Kristin didn't want any child being at the hospital during the holidays without presents."

Very sadly, Kristin lost her battle with brain cancer and passed away on 12/6/09. But, true to her wish, toys collected in her name were delivered to BTFC by her parents and friends the following week and BTFC staff visited local inpatient children and delivered gifts from Kristin during the holidays. Many other toys, having replenished the shelves in the BTFC "toy room," will be delivered and mailed to cheer other children with brain and spinal cord tumors throughout the coming year.

Right: Kristin's family and friends deliver toys collected in her name to the BTFC office on December 17.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with Kristin's family at this time.  And our sincerest thanks go out to Vigil Ford, ABT Tattoo, Eleven Standing Still, and Sandee Clark of Ntune Magazine for making children like Olivia smile.

Right: Olivia was delighted with the doll she received as a gift on Christmas Day on behalf of Kristin.
