Meet Taylor Carver
Taylor is a 14-year-old 8th grade home-schooled student diagnosed with a tectal plate glioma at age 6. Since diagnosis, Taylor has done extremely well and stays quite busy - she plays piano (she performed at last year's Flight of the Butterflies honoring Dr. Claire Mazewski!), is a Girl Scout, enjoys photography, loves to cook & knit, and volunteers at her local animal shelter. We recently learned that Taylor is also a poet and are so impressed with the following work we want to share it with our readers:
I sit here in silence as I watch nature bloom.
The trees swaying, the leaves rustling,
is how I hear the tune.
My head fills with happy thoughts as I see the leaves fall,
So majestically swaying, from the trees so tall.
The birds are chirping, the dog is barking,
for everyone who is near.
Everyone is singing to the one who brought them here.
So thank you, Lord, everyone is pleased.
Thank you for being our God and helping us believe.

Dance When the Brain Says No, by Kathleen Price
"This book chronicles the story of Leslie, an amazing young lady diagnosed with a brain tumor during her first year of college. Eloquently written by her mother, it is a poignant story of hope, love, and determination to survive and achieve.
As someone who is continually inspired by the patients and families I meet, each with their own unique story, reading this book moved me tremendously. Through letters, poems and journal entries written by Leslie, it gave me a view into exactly what she was thinking and feeling as she faced her debilitating disease. I fell in love with Leslie and her spunky personality and strong spirit. This book will help you understand how this one young lady and her family dealt with one of life’s most difficult challenges.”
